Priests are the "poor minors" in this world

francesco-diacono.jpg

"The Lord has granted me, and grants me still so much faith in priests, who live according to the Holy Roman Church on account of their state in life, that if they would stir up a persecution against me, I want to have recourse to them.

And if I would have as much wisdom, as Solomon had, and I would come upon the poor priests of this era in the parishes where they stay, I do not wish to preach against their will.

And they and all other priests I want to fear, love, and honour, as my lords.

And I do not want to consider sin in them, because I discern in them the Son of God, and they are my lords.

And I do that on account of this; because I see nothing corporally in this world of the Most High Son of God Himself, except His Most Holy Body and Most Holy Blood, which they receive and which they alone minister to others".

From the Testament of Saint Francis 1226

With all my heart and mind

"The blessed Francis
often gave poor priests ornaments
for the church, honouring each of them,
down to the smallest detail.
In his poverty, right from the start,
he was full of reverence for the ministers
of the divine Mysteries.
It was his custom,
upon entering a new city or territory,
to go straight to the bishop
and to the priests to greet them
and pray with them".
Tomaso da Celano

Help us with your prayers

This month we pray for Father Joseph
For him we offer a special prayer on Thursday.
You can remember him in the evening prayers, or the family prayers.
Priests can offer this intention in daily Mass.
Religious can add this prayer to their Office prayers.

Dear sisters and brothers,
if you wish to support our work for priests, with prayers, we primarily ask a general intention and then a specific one.
The general intention consists in choosing one of the following proposals
to say on the first Thursday of every month:

1. Compline
2. Recite and meditate the Rosary.
3. Half hour adoration before the Blessed Sacrament.

Accepting seriously one of the above-mentioned proposals with intentions for a Priest in difficulty will permit us to create a prayer-chain () for all of the situations that are known by our Father in Heaven and His Holy Church.

This month as a specific intention
We pray for Father Joseph (age 30 - diocesan priest)
ten minutes every day,
wherever and whenever it suits you.

Thank you!
